of Altamira, ranked 7th largest in the state, has a population of 127,490.

The main economic activities of the Altamira / Tampico are are the petroleum
industry, metal working industry, international trade, livestock production,
deep sea fishing, and deep-water port services. An impressive lagoon system
and an oceanfront surround the region. This makes an abundant water supply
possible for industrial use. Altamira offers industrial development while
the Tampico-Madero area offers a consolidated plant offerings such as technical
